Representation Matters At Every Age
When I was younger I never had or saw Disabled dolls. Now I'm a Disabled adult, I really wish they'd existed.
Disability is a difficult thing to adjust to, mentally, emotionally and even environmentally. If I'd seen the representation in dolls when I was a child, I'd have grown up well adjusted to Disability and the fact it isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't have felt so ashamed or lost as I came to terms with my reality.
Even now some Disabled dolls do exist, but representation is still missing for many of us, especially walking stick users, and that needs to change.
Disabled Dolly was created to enable adults and children to create representative, inclusive dolls (because they're not just for kids!). Everybody deserves to see a piece of representation that looks just like them.
I create colourful miniature Mobility Aids and Medical Accessories that can be used in conjunction with your existing dolls to cost-effectively transform them into a more inclusive play companion or display piece.
And for those that don't collect dolls, want a little something to show off their Disabled Pride or just want to support a Disabled creator, I also create Disability and doll-themed Postcards and Clip Charms that are affordable and handmade with love.
